I’m writing to share that I hand-delivered an open letter to the Prime Minister at No.10 Downing Street, calling on the government to take urgent action to tackle the disproportionate impact of toxic air pollution on people of colour and low-income groups.

In the letter, I urged the government to recognise and respond to the racial injustice that results in Black and Brown communities being exposed to some of the most polluted air in the country. I also highlighted the wider impact of air pollution on marginalised groups and low-income families – and called for stronger, more equitable action to clean up the air we all breathe.

We’ve shared the campaign publicly on LinkedIn here, and we’d really appreciate your support in helping to amplify this message. The more visibility this issue receives, the more pressure we can apply to ensure the government acts.

We’re really grateful to the many online and print media outlets who covered the campaign this morning (with coverage from over 60 different news outlets so far!), and I’m proud to share that the story was broadcast by over 400 radio stations across the UK, including Sky News Radio and many more.

This is just the beginning. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be launching a larger, coalition-led campaign – uniting organisations from across sectors in the fight for clean air and environmental justice.

Because this is about protecting lives – and holding the government accountable. No child, or adult, should face lifelong health consequences because of their race or postcode.

If you would like to be part of this next phase, please let us know. We’ll be in touch soon with details on how you can get involved.

Kind wishes,
